Qatargas was recognised by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) for its ongoing support to HMC’s blood donation drive at the ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebration held on June 14 under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohammad Al-Kuwari, Minister of Public Health. Senior officials and representatives of ministries, government organizations, corporate sponsors and private enterprises also attended the event.
During the event, Azzam Abdul Aziz Al Mannai, Public Relations Manager, Qatargas, received a commemorative plaque and certificate of appreciation from Dr. Saleh Ali Al-Marri, Assistant Secretary General for Medical Affairs at the Ministry of Public Health, in recognition of the Company’s support as ‘Gold Sponsor’ of the World Blood Donor Day celebration, and its efforts in supporting HMC’s blood donation campaigns.
The ceremony was organised by HMC to honor and recognize the contributions of the donors, including individuals and organisations, in promoting voluntary blood donation in the community and in helping the blood bank increase its supply of lifesaving blood.
For the past 15 years, Qatargas has organized regular blood donation campaigns at its premises in coordination with Hamad Medical Corporation. Hundreds of employees and contractors have donated valuable ‘drops of life’ during these campaigns. Qatargas was also recognized in 2012, 2014, and 2015 with special awards by HMC for its efforts in organizing blood donation campaigns at its premises and promoting blood donation among its employees and contractors. The Company organizes four blood donation drives each year, two in Doha and two in Ras Laffan. In addition to helping the blood bank increase its supply of blood, Qatargas believes that such campaigns also help disseminate the culture of voluntary blood donation in the society.
The ‘World Blood Donor Day’ is celebrated world-wide on June 14 every year in order to raise awareness of the need for safe and adequate blood and to thank voluntary blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2016 was “Blood Connects Us All”.
